Today I spent the better part of the day with Ken Grossman, founder of Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, and Father Paul Mark Schwan, Abbot of the New Clairvaux monastery in Vina California on a feature for the Financial Times Magazine in London. The two are working together on a Belgian-style Abbey Dubbel.

Ken Grossman is a very nice guy. Father Paul is also an incredibly interesting man. Not quite what I expected from the Abbot of a monastery, but is there a norm?  I spent an hour or so with him touring around the living and worship quarters of the monastery. Definitely not something I could do but it sure gave me a new respect for those who do.

I also managed a behind the scenes tour of the Sierra Nevada Brewery. Awesome place, however I did not get to sample one iota. I did start humming the theme to Laverne and Shirley when we got to the bottling area.

Here’s some images from a recent shoot with the legendary Steve Martin and the blue grass band he is touring with the Steep Canyon Rangers.

I have been wanting to shoot with Steve Martin since I first picked up a camera so this was a really exciting shoot for me. Also played some hoop with The Steep Canyon Rangers. Nice guys all around and the show itself was probably the best I have seen all year.

Good stuff.
