Went for a quiet drink last Sunday at the Triple Crown in San Francisco. Ended up meeting Ms. Cookie Dough, the Grand Duchess of San Francisco. Funny evening indeed.

Braved the first snow storm of the year to head over the hill and work with Facebook at their Palo Alto HQ for the Financial Times Magazine in London. What an awesome place. It was kind of like my college dorms except worth a lot more money.
I also got to work with Sam Altman, the CEO/co-founder of Loopt. 25, super nice guy and just generally headed in the right direction. Really enjoyed meeting him.
My Mom recently gave me my Grandfather’s old calculator, an NSC 103A Datachecker. It’s a Canadian make, and was used to help balance checkbooks (thus the shape) but apparently my Grandpa didn’t like it as it was too complicated.
Modern product design has nothing on the early 80′s.

Just found the website of Martin Usborne. I have not enjoyed a blog like his in a long time. I wish I still lived in Hoxton so I could buy this guy a beer. His ongoing series on Joseph, a man who has lived his entire 81+ year life in East London is charming, whitty, funny and honest. A real joy to be part of. Plus his dog images are awesome.
