A few weeks ago I shot the Talib Kweli gig at the Knitting Factory. Shooting live shows is always kind of frustrating for me. I have done so many front of stage shows that I really don’t seem to feel complete unless I manage to get some backstage access to the talent. Getting that kind of access is usually a pretty tricky, time consuming process involving agents, managers, talent etc but really at the end of the day it all comes down to the artist. That’s it. Nothing more. With Talib we thought we had some good access, enjoyed hanging out backstage, talking to the band etc but at the end of the night it came down to “sorry fella’s not tonight, maybe we can do an email Q&A. Maybe next time”. Never mind. It was a great gig and Talib was a good guy about it.
Maybe next time.
More images to come.
